Island Plantation
We're not as remotely located as it may seem. We are located in the southern portion of South Carolina, bordering the Savannah River, only 10 miles from Estill, SC and only fifty miles north of Savannah, Georgia. Two other major cities are nearby, Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina. We are also located relatively close to Augusta, GA and Hilton Head, SC.
FLYING
If you are considering flying on a commercial airline, we highly recommend that you rent a car for your convenience. And, in order for you to get the lowest possible airfare, we strongly suggest that you compare all of the airfares of all of the airlines that service the numerous airports that are within 2 hours of us. In South Carolina we have Hilton Head, Charleston, Columbia and Florence. And in Georgia there are Savannah and Augusta.
If flying in a private plane, we suggest you fly into Allendale, South Carolina (5,500 ft paved runway with fuel and tie down). At this airport we will be glad to pick you up for a nominal fee of $100.
DRIVING
If traveling down to us, (Heading South) you will take I-95 and Exit at #53 (walterboro/Hampton), take highway 63 to Hampton. You will come to the stop light, turn right on Elm St. (hwy 278) - go to the second set of stop lights and turn left on 601 South. You will travel about ten miles and come to a cross roads with flashing lights. Turn right on hwy 3. This will bring you into the town of Estill to the stop light. Turn to your right on 321 North, go down three blocks and you will see the Estill Post Office on the right, You will turn on Wyman Blvd to your right, between, the Laundry Mat and the Post Office. You will go down one and 1/2 Streets, turn to your right on the dirt road, this is Gifford Lane. As you turn into Gifford Lane you will see the Island Plantation sign. It is the first brick house on Gifford Lane. Please go inside and make yourself at home. If no one is there, you may call the main office at 625-4512 (you do not need to dial the area code) and we will notify your guide that you have arrived.
If traveling up to us, (Heading North) take I- 95 until you get to Hardeville-Estill Exit #5, get off at the exit, when you come off the interstate you will turn right on 17 North, go to the stop light, turn left on 321 North. We are 45 min. from Hardeville. You will stay on 321 and come to the stop light in Estill. After you get to the light , go down 3 blocks, you will see the Estill Post Office on the right, You will turn on Wyman Blvd to your right, between, the Laundry mat the Post Office.
